Roy Davis Funeral Home

Roy O. Davis was born in Mableton, Georgia in 1908. He moved to Austell in 1909 and was a resident there until his death in 1992. A 1937 graduate of Gupton-Jones School of Embalming in Nashville, TN, Mr. Davis opened a funeral home in Douglasville in 1940. However, he closed the funeral home and served in the U. S. Army from 1942-1945.

From 1945-1946, Mr. Davis temporarily operated the funeral home out of his mother’s home on Washington Street. Roy Davis Funeral Home relocated twice to houses on Love Street from 1946-1955. In 1955, Roy Davis Funeral Home purchased the “Austell House” on Mulberry Street and served families there from 1955 until 1981. The present location was completed in 1981.
