Joseph Paul Meeks, 94 of Lithia Springs, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Benton House in Douglasville. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Donna Meeks; granddaughters, Tiffany Spino and Ashley McHenry, and great grandchildren, Emma, Charlie, Claire, Wyatt and Tucker. He was married to Lois Garrett Meeks from March 25, 1949 until her death in January, 2005. Mr. Meeks was a member of First Baptist Church Lithia Springs and was a friend and hunting buddy of longtime pastor Marion Beaver. He served as a Lithia Springs city councilman, worked more than 30 years for the Hormel Corporation and worked many side jobs, including buying and selling cars, cutting yards for neighbors and running a lawnmower repair business. He loved to plant and harvest a backyard garden and sell the produce each year. He was truly a self-made man who believed in God, hard work and earning a dollar. A private family service was held to honor the life of Joe Meeks.
