Joann Compton, 91 of Marietta, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022. She is survived by her son, Phillip R. Compton of Acworth; daughters, Laura M. Holston of Marietta, Beverly A. Compton of Woodstock, and Melanie K. Verser of Ball Ground; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Compton; parents, Dodson and Opal Williams; brother, Hulette Williams, and stepbrother, Tony Huckaby. A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Compton loved unconditionally. She was smart, quick-witted and joyful. She was a thrifty shopper who enjoyed getting a good bargain. One thing that didn’t change throughout her life was her standing hair appointment early every Thursday morning.She liked to watch Wheel of Fortune, Shark Tank and preachers Charles Stanley, John Hagee and David Jeremiah. She was a country music fan and watched country videos on You Tube. She and her husband were long time Braves fans and she continued her love for the team after his death. Mrs. Compton had been a long-time member of Olive Springs Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and raised her family in church. She served as the secretary of her Sunday School class and worked in the nursery. She had a special gift for caring for babies and loved to hold and cuddle them. Mrs. Compton will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday, March 11, at Roy Davis Funeral Home and again from 11 am to 12 noon on Saturday, March 12. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon in the funeral chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 pm that afternoon at Fellowship Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Jackson, Georgia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of Cobb County (humanecobb.com) or the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org) in memory of Joann Compton.
