The family of James “Frank” Bowen, 93, of Austell, Georgia is saddened to announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, surrounded by his family at home. Frank was born in Anniston, Alabama on Saturday, August 2, 1930. Professionally, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War, worked at Mead Packaging, and then as a City of Smyrna fireman for nearly thirty years. Frank enjoyed hunting legendary 10-point bucks with his sons, camping with his friends and family, attending church, serenading the love of his life with songs, and eating her delicious sweet treats. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 74 years, Hettie “Sharline” Bowen, parents Abe and Ada Bowen, brother Earl Bowen, and son Randall. He is survived by his children Mike (Lisa) Bowen and Jeff (Lantia) Bowen; grandchildren Patricia (Scott) Mitchell, Neal Bowen, Randall (Kelli) Bowen, and Derek Bowen; great-grandchildren Lauren (Maxwell) Hackney, Devan (Cody) Miller, Connor Willaford, Zachary Bowen, Katie Mitchell, Jordan Bowen, Emma Mitchell and Landen Bowen; three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Roy Davis Funeral Home at 5935 Mulberry St, Austell, GA 30168 on Saturday, March 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at St. Paul Methodist Church in Whitesburg, Georgia.
