He is survived by 2 sons; Phillip Bowens and Mike Bowens, his siblings; Kenneth Bowens, Robert Bowens, and Shirly Bowens. He has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. William is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Jeanette Bowens, his parents; Perry and Juanita Bowens, a daughter Michelle Bowens, and his siblings; Danny Bowens, Chip Bowens, and Evelyn Bowens.
