Joel Scott Newton, 50 of Douglasville, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021. He was born in Douglasville on February 13, 1971, the son of Hubert and Evelyn Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tracie Newton. He is survived by his wife, Connie Newton; stepchildren, Alan Kirkland of Carrollton, Christian (Ashley) Benjamin, Jr. of Villa Rica, and Megan (Jon) Haney of St. Mary’s; brothers, Kelly Newton of Acworth and Jeff Newton of Alabama, and 5 step-grandchildren. Scott and Connie enjoyed 14 years together and she will miss him greatly. He loved his dog and constant companion, Casper. He liked the outdoors, to whittle and to fish anywhere he could. Scott was a handyman that would help anyone and was an all around good person. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, October 23, at Roy Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 24. According to Scott’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be buried at a later date.
