Sarah “Joyce” Manley, a cherished resident of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on Wednesday, August 16th, 1939, in Atlanta, GA, Joyce lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Allen Manley, her parents, Joe and Sara Lee Lassiter, her brothers, Roy David Lassiter, Phillip George Lassiter, and her sister, Betty Jo Jones. She is survived by her devoted brother, James Lassiter, nieces, nephews, and her extended family, affectionately known as "Her Girls": Ruth “Ruthie” Whitesell, Chris "Christopher" Persall, and “WendyLynn” Morales.
Joyce spent her early years in Atlanta where she worked as an office worker. In the mid-1970’s she and Donald relocated to San Diego, California, where she resided until May 2024. It was then that she decided to move to Liberty, Missouri, to be close to "her girls," who brought immense joy and companionship throughout her life.
Joyce had a zest for life and a variety of interests that kept her spirit vibrant. She loved attending the Del Mar horse races, where the thrill of “watching the ponies” brought her great excitement. Bowling, playing cards, and engaging in various games with friends were among her favorite pastimes. However, her true passion lay in shopping, particularly during sales and the after-Christmas rush, long before it became a popular trend. Of course, if you knew Joyce….she was an avid lover of anything “Mickey” Mouse.
Joyce's warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
