Ronnie Twilley

August 6, 1949 — November 17, 2023

Ronnie Twilley was surrounded by his family as he peacefully went to his heavenly home on Friday night, November 17, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sarah Twilley; son and daughter-in-law, Jess and Shelley Twilley; daughter, Leigh Buckner; 9 grandchildren 1 great grandchild; sister, Nancy Aiken; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. and Melba Twilley; brother, Darrell Twilley; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Joe Lagana; brother-in-law, Sonny Aiken; and Kramer the boxer, his constant companion.

Ronnie was a member of Northside Baptist Church for more than 22 years, serving as choir director for most of that time. He spent 27 years singing gospel music with Journeyland. He was a faithful Christian and gave God the glory for everything.

A graduate of Dallas High School, Ronnie later served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He had a long career as a grading contractor. After retiring, he found his calling in funeral service, working at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home and Roy Davis Funeral Home.

Ronnie returned to his hometown of Dallas after the Army and married the love of his life, Sarah. They shared many good times over the years with family and friends at Lake Weiss. Ronnie loved being on the water and relaxing by the lake. He enjoyed playing golf and was always ready to go out to eat with a group.

He was Daddy to some and Pawpaw to others. He was truly loved by his family and loved them beyond measure. He shared in the celebrations and offered support in troubling times. His smile lit up the room and his laughter was contagious. He had a big heart and hugs for everybody. He will be greatly missed by all who got to know him during his 74 years.

The Twilley family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, at Northside Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronnie’s memory to Northside’s Christmas Benevolence Fund, 120 Northside Church Road, Dallas, GA 30132 (770-443-2500).
