R.A. Johnson, 86 of Winston, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020. He was born January 30, 1934 in Marietta, the son of Ralph and Hallie Glore Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Johnson; son and daughter-in-law Roy & Mandy Johnson; sisters, Lillie M. Johnson, Mary & Bill Sanford and Sandra Perkins; brother, Terry & Nancy Johnson; grandchildren, Jenni & Woody Mahan, Reed Johnson and Collin Johnson; great granddaughters, Mackenzie Mahan and Sydney Mahan; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Gypsy, and numerous friends and neighbors that became family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Lipscomb Johnson. Mr. Johnson graduated from Osborne High School, served in the US Army, then worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company for 42 years. He loved farming, vegetable gardens and specialized in flower gardens. He started running at age 58, completing many 5 and 10k races. In 2019, he won first place for his age group in the Peachtree Road Race. He was known as R.A., Dad, Papa and Johnson. He loved all of his family and taught them to be proud of who they are. His most used saying was, “Remember, you’re a Johnson!” He was stubborn to the core but they knew he would go to bat for any of them. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
