Paul Kight Jr. of Austell, passed peacefully on October 7, 2016 with his wife and family members by his side.Paul was born on January 4, 1922 to the late Paul Sr. and Gladys Kight; attended Clarkston Grammar School, graduated from Clarkston High School, was was an Eagle Scout.He enlisted in the Unites States Navy at age seventeen and after various schools was assigned to the USS Dixie as part of the original crew.He spent all of WWII in the South Pacific repairing damaged warships.He was a Hull Technician Chief when discharged; then join the Naval Reserve and retired as a Hull Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer.Following his active military service, Paul worked for Lockheed Martin in Marietta and participated in the C5 project among others. He marriedWillie Fred Gore and was blessed with 49 years together.Paul was an accomplished metal worker, welder and enjoyed operating his bobcat where he was able to accomplished too many numerous other building projects to mention here. He was an active member of Austell First Baptist Church.Paul is survived by his loving wife, Willie; step-daughter, Marilyn Marrow of Austell; two brothers, Ben Kight and Joe Kight; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 3 nephews, two nieces, 4 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Wellstar Tranquility Hospice Care or in his memory to Austell First Baptist Church with burial at Rose Hill City Cemetery.
