Mr. Otto Thomas Godfrey, best known as PawPaw and friends and family knew him as Tom or O.T. In the comfort of his Mableton GA home surrounded by loved ones, Tom lost his battle to Stage 4 Bone Cancer on Sunday September 30, 2018 at the age of 82. Tom is survived by his Wife Laura Maralee Southards (Godfrey) of 64 years in marriage. His 2 daughters Barbara Baker & Carlton of Douglasville GA and Sharon Johnson & Neil of Roopville GA; and his 2 granddaughters: Candi (Candace) Cook & Jeremy Kline of Mableton GA and Mandi (Amanda) Stephens & Kenny of Douglasville GA; His 3 grandsons: Josh Cochran & Alyssa of Temple GA, Cole Baker of Woodstock GA and Chance Baker of Roswell GA; Tom has 1 great granddaughter: Brooklynne Thornton and 7 great grandsons: Caleb Alexander, Caden Kline, Andrew Stephens, Colton Cochran, Jesse, Justin and Jacob Kline. His sister-in-law Carolyn Miller of Boone NC. He is preceded in death by his parents the late General Buxton Godfrey and Sarah Elizabeth Reighard (Godfrey); his siblings: 2 sisters: Faye and Adlene and 5 brothers: Ned, Max, Buster, Oliver and Ralph. Mr. Godfrey was born on March 26, 1936 in Topton NC to the late Mr. and Mrs. General Buxton Godfrey. On July 15, 1954 Tom and Laura were married in Topton NC. In August of 1957 the couple moved to Atlanta GA where they established a home and started their family. Family will have a viewing for family and friends on Tuesday October 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday October 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Roy Davis Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
