Mary Elizabeth Vickers

Mary Elizabeth Vickers, age 90, of Austell, peacefully passed away May 12, 2014, surrounded by family members. Mary was born March 20, 1924 in Atlanta.She married the late William R. Vickers, owner of Taylor Drugstore in Austell and Liggett Pharmacy in Mableton.They lived together in Jesup, GA for several years before relocating to Austell where the family resided for 58 years. Mother of 3 surviving children: Annette Easterwood, Bobby Vickers, and Jenny Darby, all of Powder Springs; she is lovingly called “Mother” and “Grandmother” by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Grandmother was a wonderful homemaker, and enjoyed spending her time with family, watching birds, washing windows, and playing golf. She loved cornbread, buttermilk, and Jimmy Swaggart. A private graveside service was held Wednesday, May 14th at Rose Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Douglas County Retardation Association, Inc., PO BOX 399 Austell, GA 30168.
