Luther "Luke"Kelley, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at The Oaks of Carrollton. He was born on March 24, 1922, in Sylacauga, Alabama, the son of John and Emma Kelley, and raised in Kennesaw, Georgia. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II as a Sergeant with the Eleventh Armored Division. He was a member of the American Legion and interested in anything military. He attended Crossroads Church and The Church at Chapel Hill. Mr. Kelley is survived by his daughter, Pam McHan of Douglasville; his grandchildren, Michelle Nails, Ben Thackston, LeeAnn Mashburn and Kelly Walker, great grandchildren, Angela and Steven McClain and Mackenzie, Madelyn, Mason and Maxwell Nails, and son-in-law Wayne Mashburn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Kelley; his parents; his brothers, Johnny, Jimmy, Lonnie and Ralph Kelley, and his daughter, Janie Mashburn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Sunday, May 5, at Roy Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, May 6, in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens.
