Leona Countiss Bradbury, 96, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021.Leona was born on September 25, 1925, in Wildwood, NJ.She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Edmund Countiss, her husband of 63 years, James M. Bradbury, and her sister, Caroline Countiss. She is survived by her two children, Carolyn B. Shankle of Atlanta and her son, James E. Bradbury and his wife, Penny, of Greenville, SC.Leona had three granddaughters, Carrie Shankle Kitchin and her husband, John Allen Kitchin of Atlanta, GA, Kelly Shankle Henson and her husband Robert Charles Henson of Atlanta, GA, and Jennifer Bradbury Watson and her husband Dr. Scott Watson of Greenville, SC.Leona also had seven great-grandchildren.Besides being a wonderful mother, grandmother and housewife, Leona was also the Miami Operations Manager for the Miss USA and the Miss Universe Pageants while they were produced in Miami.She often traveled with Miss USA and Miss Universe as a chaperone.In later years, Leona started her own successful real estate company in Miami Lakes, FL. Upon their retirement, Leona moved with her husband to New Smyrna Beach, FL where they lived and spent many happy years.After her husband's passing, Leona moved along with her sister to Mableton, GA , where she could be closer to her daughter, granddaughters and great-grandchildren.Leona was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
