Leland Wayne Meeks, age 86,of Young Harris died Sunday, August 13, 2017 .He is survived by his wife, Nellie Allen Meeks; daughter, Kathy (Gerry) Petty of Marietta; granddaughter, Whitney Petty of Seattle, Washington; sister, Barbara Webb of Tucker; brother, Warren Meeks of Ellijay; many nieces and nephews.He was employed for 35 years with Consolidated Freight Line; Captain of Wheelchair Basketball for over 30 years, playing all over the United States.He was very active in handicapped sports, involved in basketball, tennis and bowling; Leland was named Handicapped Man Of the Year.He loved to fish, play both the guitar and harmonica and was an avid Braves Fan.In addition to his family he is survived by his canine companion, Kaylee whom he cherished .Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday at Roy Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Parker officiating.Interment, Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends Tuesday eveningfrom 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
