Laura Marietta Powell

Laura Marietta Powell, age 77 of Douglasville died Monday evening, February 16, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.She loved God and her church.She loved her family, her friends and her books.Laura enjoyed two successful careers: 15 years in the printing industry and 13 years in the insurance industry, retiring from Met Life as a financial representative. She was bornon December 1, 1937to the late Frank and Era Marietta. Throughout her life the most important thing to her was her family. In 1955 she married Donald E. Powell and was married happily for 36 years until ending in divorce.She had four children, Deborah Longoria; Kim Sellers and her husband, Ricky; David Powell and his wife, Christy; Randy Powell and his wife, Terry.She had nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers Paul Marietta and sister Mary Toone. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, David and tommy Marietta; sister, Marsha Chambers. A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 pm, March 1, 2015 at Community Fellowship Church, 612 Cohran Store Road, Douglasville, GA 30134with Pastor Roger Murdock officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church, Community Fellowship Church.
