JOHN MELVIN NEWSOME POWDER SPRINGS – Melvin Newsome, 93, passed away Tuesday morning, February 23,2010 at Powder Springs Nursing & Rehab Center.Memorial service will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, County Road, Marietta with Mr. Craig Poole officiating. Mr. Newsome, son of the late Oscar and Rosa Lee Newsome was born in Wray, Georgia on December 3, 1916 and lived in East Point most of his life.He sold Real Estate and was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Register Newsome; daughter, Jeanne Newsome (Del) Franklin of Senoia; two sons, John Newsome of Brunswick, and David (Dotty) Newsome of Powder Springs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Ross of Macon and one brother, Robert Newsome of Macon and many nieces, nephews and friends.
