John Gregg Heil, 61 of Atlanta, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. He is survived by his sons, Ian Heil of Berkeley, CA, and Joshua Heil of Newnan; daughter, Sarah Heil of Atlanta, and sisters, Leslie, Jennifer and Janice. In 2013 he was preceded in death by his wife Julie Cartee Heil. Gregg was the farthest thing from being a shy person, always having an outgoing personality. He was very giving and humble. He was artistic and musically talented, playing in bands when he was younger. Anybody who met him learned that he loved his wife and kids. He always spoke glowingly about his children. “I have the most beautiful, best looking children” was a favorite phrase. Proud to be a Veteran, he served in the Army. He was a long-time employee of UPS and retired from there. He always spoke highly of his co-workers. As his children grew up, they knew he considered his co-workers family and not just friends. A message from his daughter shows how special he was: Dad, you were the best man in my eyes, not one time did I ever have to question your love. You showed me every day. You fought a long fight but stayed strong for your kids. And now you are at peace with the love of your life. I will miss your love, but will remember all our memories. Love, your mouse A service celebrating the life of John Gregg Heil will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, in the Roy Davis Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
