Jocelyn Beauford Huntley, born on April 30, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 71 on September 21, 2024.

Adopted as an infant by Maggie Porter Beauford and Henry Beauford, Jocelyn was nurtured in a loving home. Throughout her life, she cherished her relationship with her birth mother, Merrill Bacon, nurturing a bond that deepened over the years.

A proud graduate of Richard Arnold High School, Jocelyn continued her education at Dekalb Technical College, where she honed her skills in technology. Her dedication led her to a rewarding career as an IT Manager at Travelers Insurance, where she made lasting friendships and left a profound impact on her colleagues over three decades.

On February 13, 1987, Jocelyn married Edward Huntley, the love of her life. Their 23 years together were filled with joy and shared memories until his passing. Jocelyn often reflected on the happiness he brought to her life, a testament to their enduring bond.

Deeply spiritual, Jocelyn embraced her Christian faith while welcoming the beliefs of others. Her openness fostered an environment of acceptance and love, allowing her to connect with a diverse range of individuals.

Jocelyn had a passion for classic television and film, often sharing her love for timeless stories with those around her. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and sewing, showcasing her creativity and nurturing spirit through her delicious meals and beautiful crafts. Her culinary creations and handmade items brought joy to family and friends, leaving them with cherished memories.

As a mother, grandmother, and friend, Jocelyn was a pillar of comfort and support. Always ready to listen and share her wisdom, she provided guidance and encouragement, creating a sense of belonging for all who knew her.

Jocelyn is survived by her children, Carlos Kent and Lisa Ruiz (spouse Jason Ruiz), and her stepchildren Reginald McBride, Keith Washington, Chantay Brown-Oaks, and Ketuana Evans. She is also survived by her siblings, Alvin Bacon (spouse Joanne Bacon), Comanceda Brown (spouse Stanley Brown), Joyce Carroll, Aunt Lena Chestnut, Truemiller Bacon and Janice Bacon; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Catherine Roberson, Handy B. Huntley, Maxine Macon (spouse John Macon Sr.), Manda Boyd (spouse Larry Boyd), and Loretta West; as well as her grandchildren, Dominique Corbett (spouse Xavier Corbett), Trinity Ruiz, Carmen Ruiz, and step-granddaughter Ashley Oaks. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Mary E. Kent, brothers Clyde Bacon, Lawrence Bacon, sister Eleanor Bacon.

Jocelyn’s legacy of warmth, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless friends who knew her. A memorial service will be held to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society for the fight against ovarian cancer in her memory.
