James Willard Tumlin

James Willard Tumlin, 101 of Lithia Springs, Georgia went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 31, 2022.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Tumlin, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Willard was born March 8, 1921, in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Tech High School and attended Georgia Tech. As lieutenant in the Navy, he served with the “Seabees” in Guam during World War II. After the war he completed his civil engineering degree at Auburn University. During his professional career he was with Tennessee Valley Authority, the Civil Aeronautical Administration, with the Corp of Engineers on the Clarke Hill Dam Project. Later he was with Dupont on the Savannah River Atomic Plant. After that, he worked with a general construction contractor and finally with the 3rd U.S. Army Forces Command Engineers at Fort McPherson, where he worked for 26 years.

Willard has been a member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta since 1956. His last interest for 15 years was directing the East Asian Bible Studies. Many Chinese and others who were graduate students at local universities came to know the Lord through these studies.
