Jim Wingo, 77 of Lithia Springs, died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Tranquility Hospice. He was born in Hogansville, Ga., on July 31, 1939, the son of Herman Alvin and Lottie Mae Wingo. He is survived by his wife, Alice Wingo; sons Greg (Kim) Wingo of Ringgold and David Wingo (fiancé Nikki Mayfield) of Winston; daughter, Lori Atkins of Douglasville; grandchildren Joey (Nicole) Wingo, Kaylie Wingo, Cody Wingo, Lauren Wingo and great grandson Jason Wingo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sister, Kenneth Wingo, Harold Wingo, Wendell Wingo and Diane Hall, and son Jimmy Wingo. Mr. Wingo worked as a meat cutter at several local grocery stores, and enjoyed the hobbies of fishing, riding motorcycles and gardening. He coached Douglas County Youth Baseball for over 30 years, was a member of First Baptist Church Lithia Springs and a veteran of the US Navy. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm Friday, July 14, at First Baptist Church Lithia Springs, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
