James Leon Brooks Jr.

James Leon "J.L." Brooks Jr. age 89 of Austell died March 12, 2011 at his residence.A native of Austell, he was born on January 31, 1922 to the late James Leon Brooks Sr. and Mary Suggs Brooks.Serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict, he was an Army veteran however Mr. Brooks will bemost fondly remembered as Austell's Financial Banker where he served as Vice President of the old C & S Bank of Austell.Numerous times it has been stated that Mr. J.L. Brooks was the last of the Austell gentlemen's gentleman. He is survived two nieces, Patricia Jones Mullins of Resaca, Ga., and Elaine Jones Archer of Commerce, GA., grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marianne Brooks Jones.Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home.J.L Brooks left detail instructions stating NO FLOWERS please.He added in lieu of flowers, for those who desire, donations may be made to their church or favorite charity.A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Austell, GA.Roy Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
