Irene S. Bowling

Irene S. Bowling, 70 of Mableton, passed away on July 12, 2021. She was born in Oakwood, Virginia on November 15, 1950, the daughter of Hank and Lila Shell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Joe Shell and Johnny Shell; her sisters and their husbands, Martha & Walter Mealor and Virginia & Larry Farmer, and her brother-in-law, Jack Olinger. She is survived by her son, Charles Hatcher of Mableton; daughter and son-in-law, Ryan & Trent Furr of Dallas; grandchildren, Brittany Nichole, Tiffany Brook Griffin, Henry Dylan Hatcher, Tannalee Faith Poythress, Brooklyn Delilah Furr, Taylor Straughn and Alyxandra McGann; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tommie Ruth & Winfred Massey, Ivadell Olinger, Sylvia & Rod Mann and Victoria Copeland; brother and sister-in-law, Gene & Brenda Bohannon; a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends, and “chosen” children and grandchildren. She was well loved and will be missed by many. Irene enjoyed cooking as a hobby and a career. She worked at Tiffany’s Kitchen for over 10 years, where she was well known for her famous cobblers. She was a proud member of The American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 264 and it’s not going to be the same without Irene there. She had an amazing talent for singing and a love of music that she shared with her children, grandchildren and all that knew her. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 17, from 12 to 4 pm at Roy Davis Funeral Home. A celebration of Irene’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 18, at American Legion Post 264.
