Gordon Larry Dobbs

Gordon Larry Dobbs, aged 80, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in Austell, GA. Born on April 14, 1944, Larry dedicated 30 years as a Shift Supervisor at Young Refinery from approximately 1978 until his retirement in 2008. A proud veteran, he served in the Army from 1961 to 1964, bringing the same dedication and discipline to his civilian career as he did to his military service. An avid outdoorsman, Larry's passion for fishing and hunting was well-known. He frequently visited Sweetwater Park, especially after his retirement, enjoying daily fishing trips and the tranquility of nature. His love for the outdoors was only matched by the love for his family. Larry is survived by his spouse of 40 years, Beverly Carol Dobbs; sister, Sandra Kelly, her sons Bobby Wayne and Rick and their families; stepdaughter and her family Debbie, Joe, Eileen, and Hope Masterson; grandchildren, Dillon and Haley Dobbs; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Eddie Dobbs, stepson Edward A. Gray, Jr., grandson Corey Dobbs, and his mother, Faye Dobbs Pittman. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 1:00 pm at American Legion, Post 145, located at 13141 Veterans Memorial Highway, Douglasville, GA 30134. The family suggests donations to the American Legion, Post 145, in lieu of flowers, as a tribute to Larry's memory and his commitment to the veteran community.
