George W. Distler, 75, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, after battling ALS. He was born on May 9, 1946 to George W. Distler and Alma Rose Distler in Louisville, Kentucky. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Christine Distler, of Marietta, Georgia, his children George (and his wife, Cheryl) Distler of Lake Mary, Florida, Jim (and his wife, Jennifer) Distler of West Palm Beach, Florida, Angela (and her husband, Marc) Halualani of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Patrick (and his wife, Amy) Bateson of Sanford, Florida. George had 16 grandchildren George Doran, Kaitlyn, Madison, Allie, Jordan, Jimmy, Mallory and Will Distler and Tyler Lega, Bradley, Evan and Olivia Halualani, Niki Peacock (and her husband, Matt), Brandon, Thomas and Nicholas Bateson and one great-grandson, Cayden Peacock.He is also survived by his sisters Carlene, Judy, Janet, Carol and his brother Roger as well as many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents George W. Distler and Alma Rose Distler, his Mother in-law, Carolyn Wheeler and his beloved “fur babies,” Sophie and Gracie. George enjoyed a long and successful career in masonry construction, building many Hotels across the Southeastern United States.George was proud to be recognized as a Fourth Degree Master in the Knights of Columbus, the highest degree attainable in the Order.After George retired from construction, he enjoyed rebuilding Apple Computers, restoring WWII rifles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A Mass/Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the St. Bernard Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40228.
