Gary Lee Aurand

January 26, 1950 — November 9, 2023

Loving Husband, Father & Papa Gary Lee Aurand 73 of Austell, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born In St. Louis, Missouri on January 26, 1950, to the late Richard and Darlene Aurand.

Gary loved the water and looked forward to any time he and Sandra could escape to the sea. If ever she woke, and he wasn’t in bed she could find him on the balcony taking in the beauty of the early morning sunrise over the ocean. He loved music and would attend any concert he and Sandra could get to. In his free time, he liked to build model cars and collect American Flyer model trains. He was very artistic, much more talented than he realized. He enjoyed drawing anything from Harley Davidson motorcycles from memory to a poster size drawing of The Little Mermaid for his daughter Miranda when she was young and anything in between. He liked spending his weekends relaxing, watching drag racing (Go John Force!), and attending Air Shows. He especially cherished spending time with his pride and joy Tyler, his grandson doing absolutely anything. Trains and slot car racing were their thing.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Sandra Aurand, his daughter Miranda Jones and her husband Matt, his grandson Tyler Jones, a brother Dennis, and his wife Kim Aurand. He also has his sister-in-law Carolyn (Bill) Newell, brother-in-law Michael Eaton, mother and father-in-law Ardith and John Eaton, brothers-in-laws Jimmy and Johnny Chapman, and Todd Eaton, many nieces and nephews that he loved, and beloved kitty cat Lora Lee.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ryan and Kenneth Aurand, his brother-in-law Jeff Chapman, sister-in-law Christine Chapman and 2 nephews, Josh and Kyle Newell, and another beloved kitty Cleocatra.
