Gabriel B. Long, 71, of Newnan, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 9, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ned Buchner Long and Margaret Geisler Long.He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Katherine. A graduate of Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois, he worked for 35 years in the manufacturing field for Motorola, Emerson Electric and FPM Heat Treating.Upon relocating to Newnan, Georgia, he pursued a career in real estate with the Home Source and currently with Keller Williams Realty. Gabe was a wonderful, gentle man who cherished his family above all else.Life’s challenges did not get him down and he accepted each one as it arose.He donated his time and talents to the community he loved.He was a generous mentor and role model to grateful family members and friends alike.Every day and every person was greeted with a smile....and that is how we will remember him. He is survived by his wife, Eve F. Long, his daughter, Jill E. Burke and son, Andrew G. Long (Cheryl), Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Brittany Burke, Jack Burke, Kristin Long and Justin Long; and brothers David Long (Marilyn) of Chicago, Illinois, Robert Long and sisters, Linda Pape Long (Jay) of Chicago, Illinois and Kathryn Long. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Southside Church, 1821 Hwy 34 East (directly behind the Delta Credit Building), Newnan, Georgia, 30265 on Thursday, August 25 at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southside Church or a charity of your choice.
