Fran Marion Dogias (née Plymale) of Mableton, Georgia passed away on March 21, 2022. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George Thomas Dogias whom she was happily married to for 54 years, her Mother Dorothy Johnson, Step-Father Raymond Johnson, and sister Deidre Jones Thompson. Fran and George met while honorably serving in the United States Navy and she was an exemplary addition to the Navy School of Journalism. She would go on to work at several small local papers with the skills she learned and often reflected on how much she enjoyed that time in her career and her love of writing. She was a proud graduate of St. John’s River Community College and was especially fond of her debate team days there where she became known for her sharp and quick debate responses that helped lead her team to several awards. In her adult years she also went back for further education in nursing and often talked about her nursing school days. Fran was a very talented knitter and no one she loved went without a fabulous handmade scarf. Her family and friends will treasure these sweet mementos she made in the years to come. While her family and life was based in the suburbs of Atlanta, she had so many loving memories of growing up in the Palatka, FL area as well as Memphis, TN where she and George married. Her proudest achievements were her family. She is survived by son Jake Dogias (Xiomarys), daughter Thea Dillon (Matt), four granddaughters Rebecca (Cole), Sidney, Taylor and Caitlin, great-granddaughter Beverly, nephew David Jones (Gina) and their son Isaiah, many other family, nieces and nephews she loved as well. Fran had a passion for books. She could often over the years be found at the local public library. In their younger years it was important to her that she passed this love of knowledge on to her children and it was not uncommon to see them in tow with her on her weekly library trips as well. She was a lover of animals, especially cats and cared for her fur babies with great love and devotion. She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and was so thrilled to see them win the 2021 World Series. Fran was an intelligent, funny, spunky lady who often spoke of the importance of thinking for yourself and following your own path in life. Her wit, insight and humor will be missed by all but most of all by her family who loved her very much and will miss her greatly. According to her wishes, Fran will be cremated and placed alongside her husband George at Georgia National Cemetery. A private service with military honors will be held.
