Elizabeth Whitehead Beard

Elizabeth Ann Whitehead Beard, 93, of Austell died August 18, 2024. She was born September 21, 1930 in Gainesville, GA, the daughter of Berta “Nena” McEver Whitehead and Loy Eugene Whitehead.

Elizabeth grew up in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta. She was the youngest of five children and affectionally known as “Toppy” to her brother, Eugene, and sisters Johnnie, Ruby and Charlotte. She was a loving wife to her husband Bill Beard and an adoring mother to their four children: Phil, Steve, Margaret and Billy. She worked in retail for a number of years after her children were grown and loved to shop for gifts for the family.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three siblings.

She is survived by her sister Charlotte Roberts as well as her children: Phil (Susan), Steve (Kathy), Margaret Ayres and Billy (Lori). She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Chris Beard, Amy Littlefield (Sid), Erin Reeves, Kerry Ayres (Rachel), Lewis Beard (Maggie), Walker Beard (Eva), Miles Beard (Anna) and Lisa Dodd (Paul). Her great-grandchildren are Zaccary, Padraig, Nicolas, Addi, Lucas, Willa, Hunter, Gus, Audrey, Dezi, Spencer Grace, Luke and Maddox.

A burial service for the family will be at National Cemetery in Canton at 11 a.m. (arrival at 10:30 a.m.) on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The family requests no flowers.
