Edwin James Wilson, 65 of Fulton County, Georgia, passed away at his residence Monday, August 1, 2016. He was born May 14, 1951 in Dublin, Georgia and was the son of the late Robert Lee and Marjorie Hobbs Wilson and beloved grand parents, Mary Lucille (Honey) Arnold and Walter Allen Hobbs, Sr. Ed is survived by his cousins, Kathy L. Hobbs and family, Robert A. Hobbs, Fred R. Hobbs and family, and Angela Hobbs and Joseph Luke III and family, and his best friend, Patti Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents, grand parents, auntand uncle, Josephine L. and Walter A. Hobbs Jr. and his cousins, Walter A. Hobbs III and Joseph L. Hobbs. Ed attended North Fulton High School, graduating in the class of 1969.As one of the top starters, he played guard and defensive linebacker for the Bulldogs and was instrumental in winning the state championship game in 1966.He attended Georgia State University. An avid sports enthusiast and competitive golfer, his love for the game and the comradery of playing was well known among his friends. Ed was a great wine and “foodie” aficionado and loved experiencing and cooking gourmet recipes.His work experience expanded over 40 years in the wine and food industry, being a top salesman for Georgia Crown, and Regional managers for Island Oasis and Dos Lunas Companies.He was well loved and respected by his customers and colleagues. He attended and volunteered at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and donated his time and services to other charities in the community. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 27th at the Chapel at Johnson Ferry Baptist, Marietta, GA at 1:00.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy in the form of donations be made to the Benevolent Fund at Johnson Ferry Baptist, which is used to assist families in financial difficulty in the community or to your favorite charity in honor of Ed.
