With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Ephraim NseabasiBassey M.D., F.A.C.P.,F.R.C.P (C), of Mableton, Georgia, on August 24, 2009. Dr. Bassey was born in Ikot Etobo, Nigeria, the son of Luciana Udo and Moran Sampson Bassey. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Holy Family College, Abak, Nigeria, attended the Yaba School of Pharmacy, and worked as a Pharmacist in the General Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from medical school at The University of Bonn, Germany, specialized in Internal Medicine in New York City, and sub-specialized in kidney diseases, dialysis, and hypertension at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Bassey was a practicing nephrologist for 30 years, and was the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Atlanta South Nephrology, medical director of three metro Atlanta dialysis clinics, and Founder and CEO of EUMA Enterprises, Atlanta, a professional consulting firm. Dr. Bassey was an advisor to the Nigerian Consulate General in Atlanta, and was crowned “Adaha Akwa Ibom” in 1996 by the Akwa Ibom Community in Atlanta. Dr Bassey is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Dr. Patricia M. Bassey, C.N.C , daughters, Idara E. Bassey, Esq of Scottdale, Georgia, Emuata U. Bassey, M.D.,and Ekpedeme M. Bassey of Chicago, Illinois, and Maeyen A. Bassey of Los, Angeles, California; two sisters Bibiana Etuk and Sister Mary Agnes Bassey of Uyo, Nigeria and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be at 1pm, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Roy Davis Funeral Home, 5935 Mulberry Street, Austell, GA. Celebration of life services will follow at 3pm. Food, refreshments and fellowship will take place at the Collar Community Center, 2625 Joe Jerkins Street, Austell GA 30168 directly after service. In lieu of wreaths and flowers, please send donations to the Hale House, www.halehouse.org.
