Douglas William Darby

Douglas William Darby, age 58, of Austell, peacefully passed away June 28, 2014. Doug was born November 2, 1955 to the late Buford and Lorene Darby in Marietta. His passing came suddenly after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer this May. He loved the outdoors, was an avid tennis player, photographer, and singer. A Master Carpenter that enjoyed remodeling places for people to enjoy for a lifetime. Father of 4 surviving children: Mary Pierce, Gentry Darby, Drew Darby, and Emily Ryals. He is lovingly called Grandpa by 7 grandchildren. Brother of 3 surviving siblings: Jerry Darby, Diane Cannon, and Caralu Self. Predeceased by siblings: Jackie Jenkins and Donald Darby. Doug never knew a stranger and always wanted to know your name. He was a loyal friend of local eateries like Martin’s, Pasta Bella and Golden Corral. He consumed thousands of tenderloin biscuits special ordered “back in the oven” from Martin’s. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Thurs. July 3rd at the chapel of Mt.
