David Eugene Powell, Sr., 82 of Five Points, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He is survived by his children, Jean (Stephen) Soloff of Roswell, Pam (Barry) Allison of Douglasville, Teresa (Steve) White of Marietta, David (Deborah) Powell, Jr., of Powder Springs, and Wesley (Courtney) Powell of Five Points; sister, Mary Hansard of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Christopher Sexton, Matthew (Ashley) Allison, Brandon (Bethany) Soloff, Evan Soloff, Tyler (Sheila) White, David Powell, III, and River Powell; and great grandchildren, Weston Allison, Wyatt Allison, London Payne, Jordan White, Aiden White and Rylan White. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Trudy Powell; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl (Scott) Hunter; parents, John and Gertrude Powell; and siblings, John Powell, Richard Powell, Elizabeth Jarrod, Roy Powell, Dot English and Russell Powell. Mr. Powell loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed piddling around in his shop and his yard, gardening and selling vegetables, fishing, or just being outdoors. When his own kids were growing up the family often went camping and fishing . He would watch any sport on TV, especially the Braves and NASCAR. Mr. Powell was a Mason and a Teamster. Before retiring he worked as an over the road trucker. The family will greet friends before a graveside service at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
