David C. Jackson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David C. Jackson, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who departed this life on February 1st, 2025, at the age of 92.  David was born on November 17th, 1932, in Austell, Georgia where he spent his life as a boy and then as a family man and retiree.
David was a man of remarkable intellect and curiosity, holding a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and Master’s Degrees from Emory and Georgia Tech.  He was very proud of his education and remained a loyal Tech fan his entire life.  His career at Georgia Power as an Electrical Engineer spanned several decades, during which he made significant contributions to the company until his retirement.
David enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests.  He enjoyed working with electronics, especially computers.  He loved trains, animals and had a passion for classical music.  He also enjoyed geology and took his family on many rock hunting trips throughout the years.  And his ability to recall events and information, even into his 90’s, was a source of amazement to all who knew him.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Joyce Chafin Jackson and his three loving daughters:  Alison (Kevin) Chin, Amy (Christopher) Howard and Angela (Jeff) Segal.  He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren.  David also leaves behind many other family members who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Christine Jackson and his siblings, Dr. James Jackson, Grace Dennington and Robert Y. Jackson.
David’s life will be celebrated with arrangements provided by Roy Davis Funeral Home.
