Cedric Pierre Marie, 90 of Atlanta, passed away at his home Monday, February 1, 2021. He was born November 20, 1930, in Boulogne-sur-Mer on the north coast of France, the son of Pierre and Dorothy Marie. He is survived by his wife, Amanda, and daughter, Virginia, in England, and a granddaughter and great-granddaughter. He spent much of his childhood during World War II in England, first in Worthing, Sussex, and then with his British mother and sister, Joy, in Sidmouth, Devon, while his French father remained in France. After the war, the family returned to France and lived in Paris, where Cedric attended the American School and College, before returning to London. In 1978 Cedric married his adored wife, Amanda, and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage and companionship. He worked in procurement with the U.S. Navy and then Sea Containers, traveling all over the world, from Turkey to Angola, from Ireland to Iceland. His talents included playing the piano and saxophone. People were drawn to his sparkling blue eyes, deeply modulated voice and British expressions. His endless sense of humor never failed to make others laugh. Mr. Marie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. According to his wishes, he will be cremated. A private inurnment service will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church.
