Carolyn Golden Tumlin, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 28, 2023. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, James Willard Tumlin. Survivors include her chosen daughter, Deborah McMichen; niece, Susan Golden James and her husband, Brian James and their three children, Tyler, Mallory and Meredith James.
Carolyn was born July 19, 1938, in Moultrie, Georgia. She graduated from Moultrie High School in 1956, Norman College in 1958 and Mercer University in 1960. She completed her Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Emory University in 1970. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, retiring in 1991 from Cobb County Schools.
Carolyn has been a member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta since 1972. There she and her husband were co-directors for 15 years of the East Asian Bible Studies. Many Chinese and others who were graduate students at local universities came to know the Lord through these studies.
Carolyn was an avid amateur photographer. She enjoyed photographing, printing and showing her landscapes, flowers, people and bird photos. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world.
The family will receive friends at Roy Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1 pm to 2 pm with a chapel service starting at 2 pm. Interment will take place privately at a later date.
