Carol Porter

Mableton, GA – Willie Carol Porter, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 83. Born in Acworth, Georgia, on May 2, 1941, Willie was a cherished member of her community and family.

Willie dedicated her career to the Cobb County Board of Education, where she served as Head Custodian. Her commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on the schools and the many lives she touched throughout her years of service.

Willie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louie Eugene Porter; her mother, Verby Cox Ashingback Nix; her stepfather, Bill Nix; her father, J Charlie Ashingback; and her son, Eddie Berryhill, Jr. Despite these losses, Willie remained a pillar of strength and love for her family.

She is survived by her devoted children: daughter Cheryl Graham Thomison, and sons I Lamar Porter and Charles E. Porter. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Melissa Verby Williams, Brandy Butler [Jonathan] Pena of Texas, Lindsey Porter [Omar] Choudhary of South Carolina, and step-granddaughter Chrystal Thomison Homer and her family. Willie was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Lane Williams, Nichole Wallace, Asher Pena, and Azaria Woodley.

Willie is also survived by her sister, Mary Sue Ashingback Fisher, and her children, Chuck and Cassie Fisher. She leaves behind numerous cousins whom she loved dearly and who will miss her warmth and kindness.

Willie's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. Her family and friends will remember her for her generous spirit, her unwavering support, and her infectious laughter. She was a guiding light to all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
