Calvin Wesley Prather

Calvin Wesley Prather, 77, Douglasville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 5, 2018, at Tranquility at Cobb Hospital residence in Austell, Georgia.He was born in Washington, DC to the late Wesley Bernard Prather and Lois Marie Prather Rowden.He spent his childhood in Washington, DC, then serving in the Army, returned to his hometown.He spent over 30 years with the (Washington) DC Public Schools, first as a bus driver, then as a driving trainer/instructor, safely transporting thousands of students without an incident.He enjoyed listing to music, especially jazz and gospel, studying Bible scripture and caring for his dog Ladybug. Calvin is survived by his daughter Anita Prather Harvell (Robert), Sackets Harbor, New York; son Donnell Prather (Douglasville); former spouse Rita Hudson; and a host of relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Druscilla Clark Prather. A celebration of life will be held at the home.Flowers and donations may be sent to the home.
