Altha Marlene McDonald Elrod, age 73, of Temple passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012.She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gene Elrod of Temple; son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Donna Stanfield of Austell, GA; granddaughters, Stacy Stanfield of Gray, GA and Marie Norton of Acworth, GA; sisters, Marie Sanchez of Lima, OH, Nancy (Penny) Turner of Sugar Hill, GA, Gina Jones of Lawrenceville, GA, Ruby Beck of Powder Springs, GA, Glenda Kelley of Conway, S.C., Ersa King of Austell, GA; brothers, Billy Joe Payne of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward Payne of Bastrop, TX, Herman Payne of Nashville, TN, Roger Dale Hulsey of Ellijay, GA.; multiple nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Marlene was born November 4, 1939 in Copperhill, TN.She is preceded in death by her parents, Ersa and Margaret Payne and Lewis McDonald; brothers, Eugene Payne, Claude Sennamon, Charles McDonald and Arthur McDonald.Marlene was a member of Christ First Church in Villa Rica.She was employed with Leggett and Platt in Villa Rica for 13 years retiring January 29, 2004. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Christ First Church, 1187 Dallas Hwy, Villa Rica, with Pastor James (Jimmy) Reid officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests consideration of donations in Marlene’s memory to Christ First Church.
